“Mom, Dad, I’m bored!” How many times have you heard those words since summer vacation began? Your kids need to be entertained, and you are running out of ideas. Fortunately, you can leave the entertaining to Chesterfield County Parks and Recreation. Each year, the department holds activities for kids, and one of the most popular is right around the corner. Robious River Camp – Explorers will take place on July 15, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Robious Landing – Shelter #2. The camp is open to kids aged 7-9, and registration is $105. This camp is packed to the brim with activities, and your kids will be worn out when they get home.
About the Camp
This camp takes place at Robious Landing Park, which is located on the James River. The park has long been a favorite for people of all ages, and your kids will get to explore it during this camp. They will get to go kayaking and fishing and also spend time in the Peak Experiences Gym. The gym has a rock-climbing wall that your kids are sure to love.
Your children will also get to explore and learn about nature during the camp. They will walk away with a new appreciation of the great outdoors.
The camp is supervised, so you do not need to worry about dropping the kiddos off for a few hours. They will have the time of their lives, and you will get a few hours to relax.
Have a Family Adventure at the Park
Your kids will get a taste of Robious Landing Park during the camp. They will want more, so consider planning a family day out to the park. You can bring a non-powered watercraft to float along the river, or you can spend the day trying to catch the big one. You just might reel in a huge bass during your family outing. Your kids can show you some tips they learned when they fished at the camp.
The park has 3.4 miles of walking trails, so take a hike while your kids talk about the nature lessons they took in at the explorers’ camp. You just might learn something during your hike.
After your hike, you can head to the picnic shelter for some lunch before you play a game of sand volleyball. Then let your kids run wild at the playground before calling it a day.
